The role will be based in Melbourne but will involve projects locally and nationally.The primary responsibility is to apply high-level innovative, economical, and practical methods to ensure the success of complex, high-priority infrastructure projects.This position manages diverse activities and teams across disciplines, providing expert knowledge, leadership, management, and development opportunities to project staff.Our Project Managers are instrumental in building SMECs reputation as a leading consultant known for innovation, technical excellence, quality, and project delivery, while also growing the business through targeted client relationships.Key Accountabilities:Manage complex projects with governance to achieve reliable performance in terms of outcomes, design solutions, timeliness, and qualityDevelop and maintain strong client relationships through successful project delivery and targeted activitiesLead project teams to ensure cohesion, performance, resource management, retention, and professional developmentCollaborate proactively with team members and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness, and coordination of deliverablesContribute to the commercial success of projects and business development activitiesSuitable applicants will have:Experience delivering major rail infrastructure projects in Victoria10+ years managing civil infrastructure projects over $1m, successfully on budget and to client specificationsEngineering degree qualificationChartered status (CPEng / RPEV) and existing competencies with Victorian and national rail agencies; previous Victorian rail project experience is advantageousExtensive experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects of national significanceProven leadership, motivation, management, and team development skillsExperience monitoring and managing scope and risk for multiple projects, applying business systemsAbility to build and maintain trusting relationships with clients and stakeholders, delivering excellent service and client outcomesIn return, SMEC offers the benefits of working in a global multidisciplinary consultancy where your ideas and enthusiasm are valued and rewarded.SMEC is an equal opportunity employer.
