This position is on a fixed term, part time basis until early January 2026.The Public Health Physician position is a key leadership role within the Gippsland Public Health Unit (GRPHU) and provides an opportunity to work across the Public Health pillars of prevention, promotion, and protection in a regional area. This role will support Public Health decision making in response to communicable diseases and promote the health and wellbeing of Gippslanders for improved population health outcomes, while participating in projects across the Unit. This position is also open to Registrars in their final year of Public Health training with the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine.As one of nine (9) local Public Health Units in Victoria, the GRPHU Public Health activities continually evolve to meet community and regional Public Health needs. The Public Health Physician may contribute to other activities of the broader Public Health Unit as required.About youIdeal candidates for this role will have:Registration as a Medical Practitioner in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA).Current Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM) or equivalent experience in Public Health or infectious diseases or completed AFPHM requirements and awaiting Fellowship, or completing the final year of Public Health Medicine training.Postgraduation qualifications in Public Health (e.g., MPH) and/or Medical Research (PhD, MD) is desirable.Relevant training/experience in Public Health Medicine and/or infectious diseases and Public Health interventions and initiatives within Health Services and/or the wider community.Relevant training/experience in Clinical Epidemiology, statistics and disease surveillance.Ability to work a rotating roster, seven (7) days a week, as part of the surge response or program deliverable (as required) and can be flexible in the event of surge, change or on-call.Latrobe Regional Health offers a range of benefits including:Salary packaging up to $9,000 per annum.Meals/Entertainment benefit up to $2,650 per annum.Multidisciplinary teamwork across the hospital.Encouragement for professional development and ongoing education.A range of social club activities, discounts and diverse workplace activities.Free access to our Staff Wellbeing Centre offering health education and wellbeing services.Located in the picturesque region of Gippsland, Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) offers the perfect balance between career and lifestyle.
