Join to apply for theHead of Manufacturingrole atFleet Space TechnologiesTalent Acquisition at Fleet Space | Space-enabled technology to revolutionise mineral discovery, defence capabilities, and space explorationThis role is based in Adelaide but we are open to candidates from other states with frequent travel to Adelaide (once or twice a month).Fleet Space Technologies continues to grow globally, expanding across industries such as Critical Mineral Exploration, Defence Communications, and Space exploration to the Moon and beyond.We are nearing the opening of a new facility that will expand our manufacturing capabilities, with this role playing a key part in establishing it.Fleet Space has been maintaining and recently started manufacturing our Geodes, a core component of our Exosphere product, with plans to expand into modems, satellites, and more.Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Head of Manufacturing will have experience leading and scaling manufacturing teams and facilities in hands-on environments for Space, Telecommunications, or Mechatronic Products.You should have previous experience in scaling manufacturing operations, integrating new product lines, driving efficiency improvements, and optimizing production processes.About the roleYou will be responsible for:Developing and implementing a global manufacturing strategy aligned with the companys growth plans and technological roadmap.Leading end-to-end manufacturing operations, including production planning, procurement, assembly, testing, and quality control.Driving lean manufacturing principles, process automation, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.Overseeing capacity planning to meet increasing production demands while maintaining agility for new product introductions.Operational Excellence, Reporting & KPI MonitoringDefining and tracking KPIs across manufacturing operations.Implementing real-time dashboarding and reporting systems to monitor performance and provide visibility to leadership.Leveraging data-driven decision-making to optimize production and reduce bottlenecks.Ensuring accurate reporting on production metrics, inventory, and supplier performance for strategic planning.Establishing and maintaining ISO9001, ISO27001, and other relevant quality certifications.Implementing testing, validation, and failure analysis processes to ensure high quality standards.Leadership & Team DevelopmentBuilding and leading a high-performing manufacturing team, fostering innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.Developing talent pipelines and upskilling workforce capabilities in advanced manufacturing.Establishing strong cross-functional partnerships with engineering, product development, operations, and supply chain teams.Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to plan and deliver the manufacturing component of Fleets new Australian facility in Adelaide.Supporting the COO in designing and implementing Fleets internal manufacturing and vertical integration strategy for satellites, Geodes, and modems.Compliance & SafetyEnsuring compliance with export control regulations, environmental policies, and safety standards.Developing and enforcing HSE protocols to maintain a safe and sustainable production environment.What we are looking forWe seek someone with experience in setting up and growing production facilities, teams, and processes for new and innovative deep tech products, especially as Fleet scales up and opens new facilities.You should have 10+ years of manufacturing experience within Space, Aerospace, Deep Tech, or Mechatronic industries, leading strategies and high-performing teams from prototypes to mass production.You will ensure exceptional quality control, regulatory compliance, and collaborate closely with engineering, product, operations, and leadership teams.
