The role involves completing all facets of marine fitting (including general works) as directed by Supervisors. The position ensures work is delivered fully, on time, and to the required standards. The tradesman is responsible for maintaining safety for themselves and colleagues, as well as a clean, tidy, and productive work environment. Whats Involved Perform marine fitting (or general) tasks as directed, following supplied Work Pack/Job Tickets Inspect, test, and service onboard mechanical systems Record critical measurements, data, or information during mechanical refurbishment works Complete works within set timeframes; inform Supervisors/Managers if deadlines are unachievable Assist in other trade sectors during periods of reduced trade-specific work, as directed Understand, implement, and comply with all Austal Policies and Procedures related to HSEQ Youll Need Essential Construction White Card Trade Qualification: Fitter & Turner, Machinist, Diesel Fitter (Heavy), Pipe Fitter Experience in marine refit/repair or heavy industrial sectors High Risk Works certification: Confined Space, Working at Heights Ability to perform work safely and acceptably Strong theoretical knowledge Proficiency with standard tools and equipment related to the trade Good time management skills and ability to meet targets Desirable HR Licenses: Forklift, EWP, Dogging, Rigging Training in Fire Fighting, First Aid, Confined Space, Working at Heights Experience in Marine, Ship Repair, or Heavy Industry Why Austal Competitive salary and benefits Professional development and training opportunities Supportive, dynamic work environment Career advancement opportunities within our growing organization Our global team adheres to core values: Excellence, Customer Focus, Integrity, and Teamwork.
