Join to apply for the IP602 Senior Mechanic role at Cabonne Shire Council1 week ago Be among the first 25 applicantsGet AI-powered advice on this job and more exclusive features.About The OpportunityCouncil has an exciting opportunity in its Fleet and Depots team as a Senior Mechanic/Mobile Field Service Mechanic to effectively maintain a vast and modern fleet.The position will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and repairs of Council''s mobile and fixed plant and equipment, primarily in a field service role, fault finding and diagnostics, to assist in the prevention of breakdowns or unexpected downtime of machinery. A field service vehicle will be available from the place of residence to the worksite.You will be working in a small team, led by a supportive and proactive management team, where you will be provided with support and training in line with Council''s values, to learn the role and ensure our workers are resilient, adaptive, and able to perform to Council and community expectations.Working for Cabonne Council provides a rewarding opportunity to work for and in a close-knit community. The operation does not require shift work or rotational rostering, instead providing flexibility for the perfect work/life balance.Whilst the position is full-time, applicants interested in part-time work are encouraged to apply. The full-time offering operates under a 38-hour week with a 9-day fortnight, with opportunities for overtime.An overview of the position''s activities and responsibilities is provided below.Position ActivitiesPerform routine and scheduled maintenance tasks including inspection and servicing of plant and equipment, trucks, and light vehicles with minimal disruption to works and construction activities.Perform accurate fault diagnosis and obtain parts and materials (where applicable), required to perform repairs.Promptly report any major faults or anticipated faults or breakdowns to the Plant Superintendent.Effectively communicate and liaise with plant operators to identify problems, maintenance, and service requirements.Assist in the supervision and work instruction of mechanics and apprentices.Relieve in the position of Plant Superintendent as required.Essential RequirementsTertiary Trade Qualifications in mechanical or related field.Construction Induction (White Card).Class C driver''s license.Skills and ExperienceRelevant experience in repair and maintenance of fleet, with the ability to diagnose and rectify mechanical faults.Ability to analyze, diagnose, and solve mechanical problems, especially with diesel earthmoving machinery.Ability to manage time, set priorities, and organize work.Strong communication skills.Teamwork and problem-solving skills.Additional InformationEmployment under the Local Government (State) Award 2023.You must have the right to live and work in Australia.Cabonne Council promotes Equal Employment Opportunity principles.Benefits include salary packaging, phone, fitness passport, flexible working arrangements, Employee Assistance Program, and more.Recruitment activities may include interviews, medical and drug testing, reference checks, and qualification validation.Seniority LevelMid-Senior levelEmployment TypeFull-timeJob FunctionManagement and ManufacturingIndustriesGovernment AdministrationReferrals can double your chances of interview success.
