This will be a part time, maximum term contract for 14 months, the role will be based at our South Brisbane campus.This position is responsible for providing streamlined operational management, overseeing all business functions including finance; human resources; postgraduate student administration; resource management; workplace health and safety; and research administration including management of ethics and governance compliance.Mater Research is a recognised leader in medical research. We are committed to working closely with Mater Health, Mater Education and our growing network of partners and collaborators to turn scientific discovery into the best possible treatment, care, and outcomes for patients and our broader community.These accountabilities and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Key role specificationsDay to day operations managementDevelop effective working relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and partnersEstablish and manage the administrative operations of the Indigenous Health Research Group, including:Reporting, budgeting and financial matters in collaboration with the Mater Research Finance officeHuman Resource related functions (e.g. recruitment, retention, on and off boarding of staff) in collaboration with the Mater Research HR and Operations teamsExternal research contracts and agreements in collaboration with the Mater Research Agreements officeAssist with the preparation and submission of research grant applications, and pre/post-award administration processes, as required.Developing budgets and costings in close collaboration with researchers and partner investigatorsEstablish and manage projects with community partners, ensuring ethical compliance for clinics projectsProviding research reports in accordance with Institute, University and grantor policiesLiaise with project coordinators, investigators, research students and University research administration to ensure all deliverables and milestones are achieved in a timely mannerDevelop and maintain a wide network of stakeholder relationships relevant to the research projects and operations of the GroupPrepare operational protocols and manuals (e.g., policies and procedures manual, data management plans), reports and other documents, meeting agendas, minutes and correspondenceCollaborate with relevant investigators, staff and students to develop and finalise dissemination of the Groups work through preparation of communication materials (summary reports, evidence summaries, fact sheets, evidence briefs, audiovisual clips, etc.) and event management, for inclusion on websites and social media, as well as use by the research team.Ensure that the Groups activities comply with Mater Research policies and procedures as well as legislative requirements, and relevant risks have been identified and managedManagement and support of junior team membersAny other duties as reasonably directed by role supervisorAbout youQualificationsTertiary qualifications in health sciences (or other relevant discipline) may be an advantage for this role however are not required.Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Personal QualitiesWe strongly encourage applicants who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander to applyWell-developed skills in project and team operations management, including managing budgets, HR support, and research ethics and governance.Well-developed knowledge of culturally safe practices and appropriate skills to support a culturally safe workspaceWell-developed skills in written communication, including flexibility and proficiency in using a wide range of computer and web applications to achieve high standard communication materials.Knowledge of research processes from start up to close out, including a detailed understanding of the regulatory and ethical approval process would be an advantage.Understanding of structure, operations and OH&S policies and regulations of a tertiary education environment.Understanding of higher education research funding environment and processes.Extensive experience and research management expertise in a tertiary setting; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.Experience in managing office and workflow processes.Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to effectively work as part of a team, and to support and develop team members in their activities and professional developmentExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders across a range of matters.Personal attributes of integrity, tact, sound judgement and respect for confidentiality and patient autonomyEnthusiasm and willingness to be a flexible part of a busy interactive and interdependent teamCommitment to the Promotion of the Philosophy and Mission of the Mater Group and goals of the Mater Research Institute.
