Be part of something bigger at Suncorp.Coach and train Underwriters in all aspects of technical underwriting and deliveryOccasional travel to NTThe Senior Underwriter performs day to day operational underwriting functions within a State Underwriting team through the underwriting and negotiating of individual policy renewals, new business and mid term policy adjustments.The role contributes within the State to the execution within the State of the Commercial Portfolio Strategy through the application of product, pricing, customer retention and acquisition strategies to deliver the targeted Insurance Trading Result (ITR) for the Product(s) in accordance with the Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA).The Senior Underwriter in collaboration with Distribution colleagues will grow and develop key intermediary relationships, deliver exceptional customer service and facilitate multiline opportunities. The role collaborates across teams, removes blockages to performance, escalate issues and proactively look for ways to simplify and improve the underwriting process.What youll do:Underwrite new and renewal business within the scope of individual Delegated Underwriting Authority to achieve the strategic and financial goals of the Commercial Portfolio strategyConduct renewal reviews to ensure business is re-underwritten in alignment with current underwriting, selection and pricing guidelines and implement corrective or remedial actions when appropriateWorks closely with stakeholders or brokers to understands key business drivers to provide support to mutually grow relationship and incomeIdentify and work with relevant stakeholders or brokers to close gaps in existing relationship networkDrive business objectives by developing productive long-term relationships with customers/ stakeholders through rapport, influence and negotiation.What youll bring:Minimum of 5 years of product underwriting experienceDemonstrated ability to influence in the commercial Broker and Adviser insurance market to achieve mutually beneficial outcomesUnderstanding of relevant Insurance products, industry, market environment, reinsurance structures and customer segmentsAbility to underwrite at an advanced level in accordance with Risk Appetite, Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA), Underwriting Guidelines and Business LicenceAdvanced understanding and utilisation of underwriting tools, resources, processes and guidelines.Our culture:Working as part of Suncorp you will have access to an unparalleled range of job opportunities across insurance and corporate services.
