This position is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, managing complex stakeholder relationships and delivering tailored, value-based infrastructure solutions.A critical component of this role involves maintaining and enhancing relationships with existing clients, including irrigation districts, farmers, and engineering partners; ensuring continuity, satisfaction, and the identification of further value-aligned opportunities.Operating with a high degree of autonomy and supported by a cross-functional team, this role requires a commercially focused individual with a strong understanding of solution sales, infrastructure delivery, and stakeholder engagement in technical and agricultural settingsJob DescriptionKey ResponsibilitiesDrive business development activities across the Australian irrigation sector, including pipeline growth, lead qualification and commercial conversionMaintain and expand strong, trust-based relationships with existing clients, ensuring ongoing satisfaction and repeat engagementEngage senior stakeholders within irrigation authorities, farming operations, and engineering firms to understand infrastructure challenges and position Rubicons solutions effectivelyLead the development of tailored proposals, bids, and service agreements, ensuring commercial alignment and technical feasibilityConduct infrastructure site assessments to accurately scope civil and communications works, working collaboratively with engineering and project delivery teamsTrack and report on market activity, financial performance, and project pipeline using CRM and internal reporting systemsRepresent the company at industry events and meetings, supporting brand presence and thought leadershipTravel to client locations (approximately 30% of the role) to facilitate engagement and solution scopingDesired Skills and ExperienceSkills & ExperienceWe are looking for someone who is both commercially sharp and technically capable. Someone who can navigate complexity, think strategically and execute with discipline.Youll bring:Minimum 5 years experience in business development, technical sales, or client relationship management within a complex infrastructure or technology-driven environmentDemonstrated success in managing and growing existing client portfolios alongside identifying and converting new business opportunitiesStrong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret financial data, inform pricing strategies and influence purchasing decisionsExperience in preparing detailed proposals and leading negotiations with technical and non-technical stakeholdersExceptional communication and interpersonal skillsStrong organisational discipline with a structured approach to reporting, pipeline management and CRM usageBachelors degree in business, economics, engineering, or a related fieldHighly Regarded:Experience within the irrigation, water infrastructure, agriculture, or automated systems sectorsFamiliarity with control gates, SCADA systems, or civil engineering worksUnderstanding of farm-level operations and water supply networks in regional AustraliaAbout Rubicon:Rubicon Water has a vision to sustainably increase global food and fibre production through improved water use efficiency.
