While the Legal & Business Research Adviser will primarily support HFW''s Australian offices, they will also extend their expertise to the broader APAC region, including Singapore, Hong Kong and China.Job DescriptionThe RoleAs a Legal & Business Research Adviser you provide essential legal and business information support to our fee-earning teams, enhancing the firm''s research capabilities and ensuring up-to-date resources and training for all staff. This role significantly contributes to the firm''s efficiency and knowledge management. This role is ideally based in Melbourne; however, we are open to candidates from Sydney.The key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:Research and reference assistance: provide comprehensive legal and business information tolegal, marketing and support teams across all HFW offices.Current awareness: Utilise Infogen and legal databases to set up alerts for legal, industry and client information, ensuring teams stay informed.Document delivery: sourcejournal articles and books not held in the HFW collection using local and interstatesources and the HAL gratis database. Maintain contact details for supplying institutions.Subscriptions Management:maintain current records of all subscriptions and their contracts in internal systems. Identify information needs of lawyers in the APAC region and assist the GRRH Head in contract renewalnegotiations.Training:Develop and present training on locating the law in the APAC context. Provide induction training to new starters.Cataloguing:Perform original cataloguing of library materials, both print and online, ensuring accurate and accessible records.Desired Skills and ExperienceIn addition to experience in a similar role in legal or professional services, the ideal candidate should have the following:A relevant tertiary qualification in Library/Information Science;Proficiency in using legal research and other legal databases;The ability to work autonomously, proactively using initiative to achieve tasks and results;An interest in legal information trends, including AI;Patience and adaptability in supporting lawyers at all levels, including providing training;The ability to maintain confidentiality on all matters.What''s in it for you?If you''re eager to join a friendly team in a positive environment, this opportunity could be ideal for you.
