Located in the eastern region, Monash is a cosmopolitan and culturally diverse city, close to the demographic center of Melbourne.Our library aims to encourage lifelong learning, increase literacy and build strong, resilient communities.About The PositionThe Youth Services Librarian is responsible for developing and delivering a range of library services and programs to support the literacy needs of children (and their caregivers) and youth of City of Monash. We''re looking for someone with an awareness of early literacy development, confidence with storytelling and performing to crowds of families, and the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with diverse community members.The incumbent will also work as part of the customer service team providing an efficient and effective library and information service to meet the library needs of the Monash community across our library branches and online, including evening and weekend shifts.Skills And ExperienceA tertiary degree qualification in Librarianship, Information Management or related discipline and eligibility for professional membership (librarian) of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)Relevant knowledge or experience in the selection of children''s and youth resources and collection managementDemonstrated commitment to customer service excellence, including experience to dealing with difficult customersDemonstrated experience in the development, provision and evaluation of educational/learning activities and programs for children and youth in a public library or community settingProven experience in developing and delivering programs aimed at increasing community engagement with CALD communitiesDemonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and complete work to a high standard, within set timelines and with competing prioritiesStrong verbal and written communication skills in reporting and program planning, including well-developed storytelling skillsRequirementsA current and valid Victorian Drivers LicenceWorking with Children Check (Employee)Satisfactory National Police CheckOther pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirementsAll applicants are required to be legally entitled to work in AustraliaBenefitsAs a City of Monash employee, your personal and professional development is a key focus.
