Based at our Refinery in Geelong, Victoria, these initiatives are in support of site operations, maintenance and projects, to improve overall results for Viva Energy Australia in terms of process safety, reliability and costsResponsibilities & RequirementsEnsure all activities are conducted and managed in accordance with agreed Health and Safety practices and procedure as outlined in the Geelong Refinery Management SystemResponsible for currency and effectiveness of the Refinery Safety Case. Participate in the auditing and monitoring framework, incorporate feedback from incident analysis, coordinate and participate Safety Case revisions.Where required, assist in conducting incident investigation and analysis to identify general failure types, trends and opportunities for improvement.Liaising with external authorities on safety and risk management issues.Where required, lead or participate in HAZOPs and Design Reviews.Where required, support Process Safety risk assessment and technical support to Operations for areas such as hazardous area classification, portable building location and occupancy, dangerous goods, flare and relief valve modellingSupport management of the Major Hazard Facility license renewal process.Identify and development opportunities and strategies for continuous improvement related to process safety management systems and processes. Make recommendations to Senior Management and execute approved continuous improvement projects and strategies.Assist in determining risk assessment methodologies and approaches and make ALARP (As low as reasonably practicable) determination decisions.Ensure that plant change proposals have considered all process safety aspectsQualificationsBachelor or higher degree in Chemical Engineering or a related subject.Experience in process safety or process engineering rolesKnowledge of oil refinery or process chemical industry operations.Excellent communication skills and service provision driven.Knowledge and experience of risk analysis technigues and hazard management systemsCan work well as a team member in an integrated Operations environment.Can influence and inform senior management about process safety issues, to enable timely decisions and support.Ability to communicate technical process safety issues to target groups.Additional InformationWe welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and encourage and support diversity in our traditional and non-traditional roles.Please note: This role is being sourced through Viva Energy Australia, therefore we will not be accepting applications via external recruitment agencies.Applications Close 2 June 2025 #J-18808-Ljbffr
