Since 2022, our service has expanded to include legal advice and financial counselling for applicants to the Territories Stolen Generations Redress Scheme, the Victorian Stolen Generations Reparations Package, and free legal advice for survivors not eligible for the National Redress Scheme. We continue to provide free legal advice, support, and financial counselling related to the National Redress Scheme. Knowmore employs a multidisciplinary team comprising lawyers, intake officers, social workers, counsellors, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement advisors, and financial counsellors to deliver trauma-informed, client-centred, and culturally safe legal assistance across Australia, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, and Darwin. About The Role The Senior Lawyer will deliver high-quality legal services to clients within a culturally safe, trauma-informed, and multidisciplinary framework. This role involves front-line legal casework, reporting to the Managing Lawyer, and supporting other legal team members through supervision and mentorship. The Senior Lawyer will work collaboratively with other teams and external partners, advise clients on redress and compensation options, manage complex caseloads, contribute to policy and law reform, and participate in community legal education and outreach activities. Travel within and outside of the state, including remote areas, may be required, so a current drivers license and willingness to travel are highly desirable. Duties And Responsibilities Provide legal advice and services related to childhood sexual abuse. Offer legal information, advice, representation, and referrals to survivors of child sexual abuse and the Stolen Generation via phone and face-to-face. Ensure compliance with legal standards and practice requirements. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to meet client needs. Manage a significant caseload, ensuring timely and effective service delivery and data recording. Make appropriate referrals to other service providers.
