A rare opportunity currently exists for the role of Schools Officer at Gatton State School.As the Schools Officer (facilities and grounds), you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of facilities care and support to the Principal, Business Manager, or nominated delegate.This role is offered on a temporary full-time basis, for a period of 5 months, unless otherwise determined.About Gatton State SchoolGatton State School, which opened in 1876, is located in the Toowoomba District, serving the town of Gatton and the surrounding community. The school campus includes the primary school (Prep to Year 6) with an early childhood development program (ages 0 to Year 6). The successful applicant will be appointed to the OO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the OO3 level once specific criteria are met. The salary rate shown reflects the OO2 to OO3 classification range.Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited ToPerforming day-to-day activities such as delivering and collecting mail, parcels, and documents; recording and delivering messages; printing and photocopying; preparing classrooms for examinations and events; moving and arranging furniture; managing school supplies and stocks; maintaining registers; and stocktaking and recording school equipment, furniture, and assets.Supporting security duties, including maintaining security systems, banking school funds (transportation and deposit), and locking/unlocking buildings during core hours.Assisting with grounds maintenance such as clearing drains and gutters, waste collection, cleaning duties outside normal hours, rubbish removal, and supporting significant events like fetes, plays, and sports events.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.How To ApplyAttach a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees who understand your relevant work history.Include a Cover Letter.We welcome applicants requiring support to ensure an inclusive recruitment process.Applications remain current for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for similar vacancies within the Department.Applications from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.Applicants must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.The salary rate shown is reflective of full-time (1.0 FTE).The Department of Education is committed to an inclusive and diverse workplace.
