ASIC''s Superannuation and Life Insurance team is looking for an Analyst/Lawyer or Senior Analyst/Senior Lawyer to provide legal expertise on regulatory issues across the sector. Location Sydney, Melbourne, or Hobart. All locations considered. Permanent role. Applications close at 11:59pm AEST Wednesday 4 June 2025. The team The Superannuation and Life Insurance team at ASIC is responsible for regulating and supervising the superannuation and life insurance sectors to ensure compliance with laws and promote good outcomes for consumers. This involves proactive engagement, monitoring, analysis, research, surveillance, supervision, and stakeholder engagement. The team provides strategic direction, industry knowledge, and technical expertise, considers applications for relief from legislative requirements, supports regulatory reform activities, and assists other ASIC teams in enforcement and compliance actions. The role The role is available at two classifications: Lawyer/Analyst (EL1) or Senior Lawyer/Senior Analyst (EL2). EL1 from $123,444 + 15.4% superannuation: candidates with minimum 5-6 years'' relevant experience. Please refer to the Position Description. EL2 from $147,074 + 15.4% superannuation: candidates with minimum 7+ years'' relevant experience. Please refer to the Position Description. You will be asked to indicate the classification that you wish to apply for. An Analyst/Lawyer or Senior Analyst/Senior Lawyer at ASIC identifies and addresses regulatory issues within their sector to ensure compliance and improve consumer outcomes. They exercise significant autonomy and shape strategies that align with ASIC''s vision and objectives. In addition, you will be Analyzing regulatory issues and identifying, proposing, and implementing regulatory strategies. Leading and participating in risk-based supervision and thematic reviews of harms or problems across the sector. Collaborating with the Sector Leadership team in developing sector-specific strategies and priorities. Leading and identifying new ways to utilize data to deliver priorities, including effective collection, management, analysis, and communication of insights from data. Providing and applying expertise in the assessment of complex matters such as applications for relief and assessments of disclosure and conduct. Supporting the implementation of policy and law reform, including developing new guidance, training, systems, and processes as required. Establishing and maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to effectively deliver the sector strategy. Maintaining knowledge of ASIC''s regulatory framework and toolkit. Working collaboratively with other teams within ASIC to enable them to carry out their roles, especially enforcement and compliance actions. Partnering with the broader Superannuation and Life Insurance team to ensure ASIC''s role in the sector is clear, understood publicly, and operationalized. Writing reports and communication materials such as presentations, briefing notes, and website content. About you The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to deliver results in a complex business environment, manage risks, and utilize resources efficiently. Relevant tertiary qualification and experience advising on complex transactions or projects in corporate, consulting, legal, regulatory, or academic sectors. In-depth knowledge of the Australian financial services industry from regulatory, product, operations, or risk perspectives. Proven ability to deliver strategic priorities through stakeholder engagement and innovative solutions. Superior writing, drafting, and communication skills, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
