Fixed Term Contract from August 2025 - November 2027The Rugby World Cup Australia Local Operating Company (LOC) is searching for a Senior Manager Rugby Operations to join our team!The key focus of the Senior Manager Rugby Operations is to ensure the planning for and operational delivery of critical rugby related areas of Mens Rugby World Cup 2027, including Match Management, Anti-Doping, Disciplinary & Integrity and Games Systems are delivered in accordance with RWC standards, the Laws of the Game and Regulations Relating to the Game. Reporting to the General Manager Team Services and Rugby Operations, this role will require collaboration internally within the LOC and with World Rugby, in order to achieve excellence in the delivery of the tournaments 52 matches and associated rugby services.This is an exciting and unique opportunity to be a part of a global event that will set new standards and drive the growth of rugby. You will be part of a team that aims to inspire a new generation of fans and participants.About the roleEnsure all Rugby Operations plans reflect best practice and World Rugby Laws, Regulations and player welfare guidelinesLead the planning of Match Management services including the overall match planning process and delivery structure, training equipment provisions, and the appointment and training of the highest standard of Match Managers and Ball TeamsWork with the Operations division to ensure the provision of the highest standards of team spaces, services and the playing enclosure at Match Venues to enable teams to perform at their optimum levelLead the operational planning required to support World Rugbys Disciplinary & Integrity and Anti-Doping ProgrammesAct as the integration point between World Rugby and the LOC for all Games Systems deliverableIntegration with the Match Officials and Medical FAs as required, particularly in relation to match venue planningBuild and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders including the LOC, World Rugby, Rugby Australia and Member Unions, suppliers and contractorsEnsure all stakeholder requirements related to or impacting Rugby Operations are integrated into the planning processAttendance at match venue site visits, when required, to review and finalise operational planningEnsure that all required documentation is produced on time and to the required high standards, such as tournament manuals, run sheets, operations plans, policies, procedures and contingency plansEnsure that the relevant functional area budgets are managed effectively and in line with agreed forecasts and operating plansMonitor and manage milestones outlined in the tournament masterplan, ensuring all elements are met on time and to the desired standard, with risks identified and mitigated againstProvide clear and decisive leadership, direction and management of a number of direct reportsContribute to the development and undertaking of testing and readiness plansResponsible for issue reporting, management and resolution during the tournamentLead the production of the Rugby Operations FA knowledge transfer post-tournament reportsAbout youA working knowledge of the international rugby environment and the Laws of the Game is requiredYou have a clear understanding of the needs and expectations of elite high performance sportYou are an excellent communicator, highly personable and can build strong relationships with colleagues and a diverse range of stakeholders quicklyYou have strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and help drive an organisational culture that enables others to perform at their bestYou have a positive demeanour and the proven ability to collaborate with colleagues to effectively deliver on mutual objectivesYou have meticulous attention to detail, exceptional organisational skills, the ability to prioritise and multitask, and remain calm under pressureYou are able to prioritise and multitask, remain calm under pressure and maintain high standards of work in a challenging and fast-paced environmentYou are flexible to work irregular hours, and travel at timesYou possess great integrity, have a passion for sport and desire to contribute to the successful delivery and legacy of Mens RWC 2027About usWorld Rugby is the international federation responsible for the global development of rugby union. In Australia, the tournament is expected to generate $1.3B in direct visitor expenditure across Australia from more than 250,000 international visitors and inject a further $80m into the Australia economy as a result of hosting in 2027 alone.Whilst the LOC has carriage of both the 2027 and 2029 RWCs, all roles are being recruited on the basis of working to deliver 2027, with a contract end date reflective of the successful conclusion of 2027.
