Job Responsibilities Lead and manage a multi-skilled professional and technical team to undertake projects and tasks related to road asset management, including developing, maintaining, and reviewing road infrastructure asset management systems. Contribute to the strategic direction of the Branch. Support the Director of Asset Management and senior management by providing high-level professional advice to key stakeholders, including the relevant Minister and external parties, regarding road asset management and sustainability. Develop and manage road asset management plans, strategies, and policies for the State road network, ensuring alignment with organisational strategic plans and guidelines. Scope and oversee programs for maintenance, rehabilitation, and renewal of roads, including development and delivery phases. Manage professional consultants and contractors to deliver specific projects and advice. Conduct pavement design analysis, including assessment of heavy vehicle load movements. Monitor and review pavement-related standards and specifications, applying risk management strategies for their implementation across the State road network. Identify solutions to protect the State road network from impacts by utility authorities and others, including setting relevant permit conditions. Collaborate with other section heads within the Branch to ensure cost-effective resource distribution and develop innovative solutions for complex road asset issues. Represent the Department at State and National forums as required. Essential Requirements Applicants must provide evidence of the following prior to appointment: Satisfactory completion of a relevant 4-year university degree in engineering accredited by Engineers Australia, or equivalent qualifications recognized by Engineers Australia. Current drivers license. The individual must maintain these qualifications throughout employment. Desirable Requirements Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline. Understanding of State Government responsibilities related to road asset management.
