In this role, you will be part of a small team responsible for quality checks, testing, recording, assembly, and mechanical adjustments to customised orders of PVC pipes, ensuring they meet customer specifications. Your mechanical aptitude, technical experience to read drawings, safely work with hand tools and plastic piping, as well as pride in your craft to deliver a high-quality finish, will see you shine in this important role. What will you do? Understand and interpret technical drawings and material. Use a variety of hand tools including drop saw, jig saws, drills to complete quality checks and testing on customised customer orders. Operate and ensure appropriate care when handling equipment (including measuring equipment), and that the equipment is appropriately maintained. Ensure that all work carried out is in accordance with the Vinidex standards and only conforming products are released for sale or stock. Packing and organising orders to be sent to customers. Complete and update required paperwork, record accurate batch details and perform quality inspections. Communicate any non-conforming components to the Fabrication Supervisor in a timely manner. Support and participate in preventative maintenance initiatives. Work as part of a team to create a culture of collaboration and embed recognised best practice and continuous improvement from across the manufacturing industry. Work positively and proactively with other functions across the site, supporting an integrated and engaged operational workplace. Adhere to all health and safety regulations and perform all duties in a safe manner. About You Experienced in fabrication of plastic/steel pipes or working as a trade assistant operating tools and machinery. Must have current Forklift licence, drivers licence and own transport. Experienced using a variety of different hand and power tools including saws, jigsaws, drills etc. Excellent spatial awareness, mechanical aptitude, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Solid literacy and numeracy skills and experienced working off plans/drawings and able to demonstrate best practice application. Strong commitment to following work site procedures, understanding of safety work practices, and demonstrated risk awareness. Excellent decision making, highly organised and able to manage your time effectively to get the job done accurately and efficiently. Have a can-do attitude, are flexible, adaptable, able to work independently or in a team where you enjoy collaborating, and available to work overtime or do other duties as required.
