So, if you love it here as much as we do, and you want to shape our region for the future youll want to join our team!With the vision to be Australias most sustainable region - Healthy, Smart, and Creative, council is at the forefront of delivering a number of region-shaping projects that will see the region become a hub for innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity, along with opportunities and a lifestyle for all to enjoy.About The RoleThe Parks & Gardens branch is responsible for the care, management and operation of a comprehensive network of public open space and recreational areas which have been established for active and passive recreation for the community and the preservation of the natural features of landscape and environment along the Sunshine Coast, largely within the urban environment.The Technical Officer, Tree Planting and Nursery Services is responsible for coordinating day-to-day activities involved in horticulture, landscape and arboriculture services and assist with the formulation and monitoring of the capital works and development programs.You will provide technical assistance and advice to manage horticultural, nursery and arboriculture activities, anticipate future requirements, initiate forward job planning and arrange work in a systematic way meeting priorities, job budget targets and deadlines.You will scope future planting sites in alignment with Councils Street Tree Master Plan and create detailed planting plans utilising ArcGIS to provide contractors and internal stakeholders.You will supervise tree planting teams and contractors, oversee service delivery, work scheduling, and quality control. Monitor daily run sheets and job tracking spreadsheets to ensure correct and detailed record keeping, and assist with the implementation of Street Tree Master Plan, ensuring high standard and productivity.About YouAs a requirement of this role, you will possess the following;CPCCOHS1001A - Work Safely in the Construction Industry - White Card.Certificate IV in Horticulture/Arboriculture or other relevant technical qualification or extensive experience in horticulture, landscape, and arboriculture.Current C class drivers licence.You will have demonstrated experience with contractor management and quality control and demonstrated experience in a high-performance team environment with the ability to support and motivate others and develop teams to achieve required outcomes.Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending.
