We provide a comprehensive ward based clinical pharmacy service and participate in multi-disciplinary-team meetings with community mental health teams.The hospital''s mental health services include a 20-bed acute public adult patient ward (including 4-bed high dependency unit), a 15-bed psychogeriatric ward, a 22-bed private ward (including drug and alcohol rehabilitation), and a 6-bed Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC) unit, ensuring specialized support across a range of mental health needs. Northern Beaches Hospital is closely linked with our local community mental health teams (Brookvale and Lower North Shore) to ensure optimal transition of care for those living with mental illness.In addition to this, you will receive cross-training in General Medical and Surgical wards, enabling you to support other clinical departments as needed. This role offers an exciting opportunity to enhance patient care within a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment while developing your expertise in a specialised area of pharmacy.Key Responsibilities:Organise, co-ordinate, control and supervise the efficient operation of the Mental Health pharmacy serviceEnsure Mental Health pharmacy services adhere to Quality use of Medicines principles, including accuracy of dispensing, provision of drug information and both written and verbal consumer medicines information, and review of medication chartsLiaise with patients, medical staff, allied health and broader mental health teams, such as community teams, to promote optimal transition of care for those living with mental illnessManage and coordinate the inpatient supply and monitoring of clozapine as a Clozapine Coordinator.Manage and coordinate the inpatient supply of opioid replacement therapy (OTP) and liaise with addiction medicine physicians and drug and alcohol teams (inpatient and community)Develop and maintain a Quality Improvement Program for the Mental Health pharmacy serviceContribute to training and educational sessions for pharmacy, nursing, medical staff and allied health professionalsContribute to our 7-day roster, including flexible hours, on-call service and reduced weekend and public holiday servicesAbout You:You are a dedicated Clinical Pharmacist with a passion for delivering exceptional care to patients with mental health conditions. Your communication and interpersonal skills enable you to build strong relationships with patients and healthcare professionals, and you thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.To be considered for the role, you will need:Current AHPRA general registration as a pharmacist, with no restrictions on practiceMinimum 2 years Clinical Pharmacy experiencePersonal Indemnity insuranceStrong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.Demonstrated proficiency in clinical drug knowledge, ensuring safe and efficient patient care delivery.Proven capability to work collaboratively within a team, while also being able to function independently with minimal supervision to accomplish team objectives.Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and ongoing education in the field of pharmacy.Prior experience in Mental Health is highly desirable, comprehensive training and support will be provided to further your knowledge.About Us:Opened in 2018, the 488-bed Northern Beaches Hospital delivers high-quality care to both public and private patients.
