About the RoleThis opportunity will allow you to showcase your ability to build meaningful partnerships and lead strategic engagement with the Traditional Owners on whose land we operate. You will play a vital role in supporting self-determined outcomes and building enduring relationships based on trust, respect, and shared value.Reporting to the General Manager Traditional Owner Partnerships, you will:Partner with Relationship General Managers to strengthen and maintain valued, long-term partnerships with Traditional Owner groups.Build long term relationships with Traditional Owners that create shared value.Lead the development and execution of partnership approaches that align with community priorities and business objectives.Create short, medium, and long-term operational plans through integrated fieldwork, approvals, and engagement planning that create shared value.Support studies and life-of-mine planning through the development of Community and Social Performance (CSP) plans and provision of technical input.Oversee the implementation of agreements in collaboration with Traditional Owners andothers inside the business.Embed and uphold Rio Tintos CSP Standard, Cultural Heritage Management procedures, and Indigenous Peoples policies and practices.Manage key risks, issues, and disputes by applying structured frameworks, digital systems (e.g. D365), and collaborative stakeholder engagement.Provide strategic guidance on issues management and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen our performance and partnerships.You will bringDeep understanding and respect for Indigenous culture, with demonstrated experience engaging with Traditional Owners or Indigenous Peoples.Proven ability to build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.Strategic thinking skills with the ability to align engagement approaches with long-term business and community goals.Strong organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple complex activities, issues, and priorities simultaneously.A collaborative approach with a track record of partnering effectively to deliver shared outcomes.Excellent communication skillsboth verbal and writtenwith the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences.Critical thinking and the ability to distil complex information into clear, concise insights and strategic narratives.Experience making sound, informed decisions in complex and dynamic environments.Knowledge of mining operations and relevant areas such as communities, cultural heritage, environment, and approvals.Strong risk awareness and stakeholder management capabilities, with a focus on proactive issue resolution.About Rio TintoRio Tinto is a leading global mining and materials company.
