Design and Implementation of F5 DNS Security Work We are seeking an experienced F5 DNS Solutions Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of cutting-edge DNS solutions. This role will focus on Authoritative DNS, Recursive DNS, and Cache Server solutions , while ensuring integration with advanced features such as DNS64 and other F5 DNS capabilities. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in DNS technologies, F5 platforms, and the ability to architect highly scalable and secure DNS infrastructures. Responsibilities: Architect and Design end-to-end F5 DNS solutions, including Authoritative, Recursive, and Cache Server architectures that meet business needs for scalability, high availability, and security. Lead the integration of DNS64, DNSSEC, and other advanced DNS features into existing infrastructures to ensure seamless IPv6/IPv4 interoperability. Define the DNS architecture roadmap, aligning with business and technical requirements, and ensuring the future scalability and robustness of the DNS ecosystem. Design DNS security solutions, leveraging F5s DNS features to prevent DDoS attacks, enhance DNS security, and ensure compliance with best practices and regulatory standards. Develop and document high-level DNS design patterns and best practices, and provide thought leadership to guide implementation teams. Lead the development and implementation of Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB), Anycast DNS, and content delivery solutions for distributed environments. Collaborate with other architects, engineers, and network teams to ensure seamless integration with the broader network infrastructure (e.g., firewalls, load balancers, and security solutions). Drive DNS performance optimisation, conducting assessments and providing solutions to improve query response times and reduce latency. Oversee the DNS lifecycle management, from planning and design through to deployment, operations, and continuous improvement. Work closely with senior leadership to define DNS strategy and align architectural decisions with organisational goals. Provide technical mentoring and guidance to engineering teams and junior architects, enabling the successful implementation of the DNS architecture. Ensure that all DNS solutions are built with disaster recovery, fault tolerance, and high availability in mind, ensuring minimal downtime. Collaborate on the development of automation frameworks and tools to streamline the deployment and management of DNS solutions. Stay at the forefront of DNS technologies and industry trends, evaluating emerging tools, practices, and features to drive innovation. Skills and Experience: Extensive experience designing and deploying F5 DNS solutions, specifically Authoritative DNS, Recursive DNS, and Cache Server architectures. Deep understanding of DNS64, DNSSEC, Anycast DNS, and Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB). Proven track record of architecting large-scale, secure, and highly available DNS infrastructures in complex environments. Hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP DNS (A10, GTM, LTM) platforms, including advanced configurations for DNS performance, redundancy, and security. Strong knowledge of IPv6/IPv4 transition mechanisms, particularly DNS64 for IPv6 support. Expertise in DNS security best practices, including mitigation of DDoS attacks and integration with security appliances. Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their integration with on-premises DNS infrastructures. Strong experience in networking protocols (DNS, TCP/IP, etc.) and troubleshooting. Expertise in automation using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Python to deploy and manage DNS solutions. In-depth knowledge of monitoring, analytics, and performance tuning for DNS services. Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, security, and operations teams to align DNS architecture with overall IT and business strategies. Preferred Qualifications: F5 Certified Technology Specialist (F5-CTS) or F5 Certified Architect (F5-CA) certification. Experience with multi-cloud architectures and DNS integration in hybrid environments. Experience with DDoS mitigation solutions and advanced DNS security measures. Expertise in content delivery networks (CDN) and distributed network architectures. Familiarity with advanced DNS analytics and query monitoring solutions. Previous experience in managing or leading large, complex DNS migration projects. Excellent communication skills to present complex DNS solutions to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. Strong leadership skills with a track record of guiding teams through the design and implementation of mission-critical DNS solutions. Ability to influence architectural decisions and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
