You''ll provide vital support, information, and referrals to those at risk of homelessness across Melbourne Metropolitan and the Barwon region helping break the cycle and create real change. If you''re passionate about social justice and want your work to matter, this is your chance to make a lasting impact.About The RoleWe are seeking a cause-oriented Initial Assessment & Planning Worker for ourHPP Prisons Metro program to assist with the challenges of working with vulnerable members of society that are at risk of homelessness. A dynamic, high-impact role where your dedication drives real change.Reporting to the Team Leader this is a Max term Full time role, located in Sunshine, Victoria.Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Award Level 5You will successfullySupport people in custody by assessing their housing needs and planning pathways to safe, stable accommodation post-release.Advocate for vulnerable individuals, resolving tenancy issues and securing access to crisis housing, social housing, and other essential options.Deliver hands-on support through in-prison interviews and outreach, primarily in metropolitan Melbourne and occasionally in other custodial facilities.Provide life-changing resources, including financial support from the Housing Establishment Fund (HEF), and connect clients to local housing and support networks.Champion inclusive, respectful service delivery, ensuring culturally safe support tailored to each persons background and circumstances.You will haveDemonstrated knowledge of homelessness including context, causes, issues, philosophies and legislation.An understanding of the application of homelessness models, approaches, theories and practices when dealing with clients.A Tertiary qualification in Social Work or related community service, this is not essential but highly regardedKnowledge of the Justice system and experience working within correctional settings is considered highly desirable.The willingness to complete a national police record checkCurrent Victorian Drivers licenceThe ability to lift 5kg and carry items short distances due to instances where you may be required to take donated items to clientsWhat we offerSalary packaging up to $15,900 tax free + $2,650 meal entertainment benefit;Generous Paid Parental leave for primary (12 weeks) & secondary carers, Purchased Leave Scheme (up to 8 weeks) and 5 days paid leave per year to experience working in other TSA programs or activities;Access to Fitness Passport and consumer discounts;Access to EAP and health & wellness initiativesOngoing training and development opportunities that enhance on the job skills and proficiency;How To ApplyIf youre passionate about making a difference and ready to join a team dedicated to creating positive change, please submit your resume and cover letter detailing your alignment with the requirements of the role.
