This rare opportunity offers a chance to make a difference in the lives of at-risk young people who may be experiencing homelessness. P2C is a grassroots organization providing unique and specialized support services for young people in our region.P2C is a Specialist Homelessness Service (SHS) funded by Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) to help young people access and maintain education, training, and employment opportunities to prevent the cycle of homelessness. P2C operates from a ''person-centred, strengths-based'' philosophy within a ''Trauma Informed Care'' framework, committed to empowering young people and creating opportunities for informed choices. We go the extra mile, take the extra step, and seek out-of-the-box solutions.P2C Youth Caseworkers are dedicated to assisting complex young people in making the right connections aligned with their skills, passions, and drive, leading to increased success in sustaining education, training, employment, and preventing homelessness in the longer term. We operate under the No Wrong Door approach, ensuring anyone experiencing homelessness receives assistance or appropriate referrals.The P2C Youth Caseworker will undertake client-centred case planning, develop strategies to address barriers, refer and advocate, coach, and mentor young people towards positive education, training, and employment outcomes. The Youth Caseworker team collaborates with Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) partners to provide holistic care, ensuring successful transition into independence. P2C Youth Caseworkers also liaise with local education, training, and businesses to develop relationships that support clients and enhance work experience or employment opportunities.ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:Tertiary or degree qualifications in Youth Work, Community Welfare, Social Science, or relevant disciplines, and/or a minimum of 5 years experience working with complex youth.Demonstrated experience and highly developed skills in Case Management of complex young people using a client-centred, strengths-based, and Trauma-Informed Care approach.Experience supporting and linking young people with education, training, employment opportunities, and advocacy with local community organizations in Newcastle, Hunter, Lake Macquarie, and Port Stephens.Knowledge of local Education, Training, and Employment providers.Experience & knowledge of Specialist Youth Services including Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS), OOHC, Disability, Counselling, Drug & Alcohol, Mental Health, Health, and Legal services.High professionalism, excellent teamwork, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.Skills in interviewing, counselling, advocacy, negotiation, networking, and problem-solving.Proficiency in writing, computer data entry, case plans, case notes, and report writing.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Current First Aid certificate.Current Driver''s licence.Current Working with Childrens Check.Current Police Check (prior to commencement).The position is 32 hours per week (Permanent Part-time) with flexible working hours.
