About the Role Royal Prince Alfred is the principal teaching hospital of the University of Sydney and offers speciality services from its main campus as well as from Institute of Rheumatology and Orthopaedics, Chris OBrien Lifehouse and Dame Edith Walker Hospitals. RPAH is one of Australia''s leading hospitals, providing an extensive range of diagnostic and treatment services. Its specialities include cardiology, obstetrics and gynaecology, cancer, respiratory medicine, neurology, liver and kidney transplants. This position aims to support evidence-based care for the treatment and management of mental illness and the occupational therapy needs for parents and babies presenting to NSW health services in public settings. It outlines the implementation of appropriate care that is consistent with current guidelines and has been shown to be effective in the treatment and management of perinatal mental health conditions within the Australian context.This position provides evidence based Occupational Therapy assessment, treatment and interventions in the specialised field of perinatal mental health. Patients/clients/consumers will be seen individually and in groups for treatment. The Occupational Therapist will be expected to work as a member of the clinical team at the Parents & babies Unit. Clinical work will occur within the context of a multidisciplinary health care team that delivers care collaboratively.
