ILMs Groom Artist Team works alongside our Digital Model Shop and Creature Teams to create hair, fur, and feather grooms for characters and creatures in high-end VFX projects.Primary Responsibilities:Create fur, feather, hair, and environment grooms for characters, creatures, and environments using a combination of off-the-shelf and ILM proprietary tools.Collaborate with Creature TDs to determine requirements and solutions for dynamics and layouts.Paint color and specular maps for hair, fur, and feathers.Work closely with departments such as Modeling, Animation, and Lighting within the Creature workflow.Maintain or exceed a consistent level of productivity while meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality work.Required Skills / Technical Competencies:Proven experience in a high-end VFX facility.Demo reel and portfolio demonstrating skills in painting, illustration, or design.Familiarity with film production and computer graphics.Proven groom skills in a high-end VFX environment.Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new information.Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.Grooming portfolio showcasing work with creatures, digidoubles, and feathers.Ability to liaise across various parts of the CG pipeline.Proficiency in Maya, Houdini, Mari (preferred), Zbrush, Photoshop, or Bodypaint.Ability to navigate complex CG pipelines.Texture and surfacing painting skills are a plus.Education / Experience:Bachelors degree in Fine Arts or equivalent, with strong traditional art foundations such as figure drawing, concept art, and illustration.5+ years of relevant experience.This position is with Lucasfilm Entertainment Company Ltd.
