These are permanent full-time positions based at our Hunters Hill and Randwick campuses.The RoleReporting to the Leisure & Lifestyle Group Senior, this exciting and unique role supports our residents in engaging in meaningful occupations through the development and coordination of therapeutic activity and wellness programs.Using a holistic approach, our therapists aim to empower and engage residents living in a residential aged care setting to have purposeful engagement. The therapist achieves this by tailoring activities and tasks to meet residents'' cognitive and physical abilities. Activity programs are individualized, based on residents current interests, values, and preferences.Primary ResponsibilitiesAssist in progressing and coordinating services towards a therapeutic model by integrating Occupational Therapy and Recreational Therapy practices and enablement.Assess residents cognitive abilities using Allen''s Cognitive Levels.Prescribe non-pharmacological interventions for residents requiring behavioral support to meet cognitive or mental health needs.Contribute to the behavior support pathway for residents with special behavior needs as part of a strong in-house interdisciplinary team.Create holistic leisure and lifestyle programs tailored to residents, staying current with recent literature and best practices.Ensure departmental accreditation status is maintained and all legislative requirements are met.Provide supervision to support staff while maintaining a clinical caseload of at least 70%.Qualifications & ExperienceExperienced Diversional Therapist or other therapist with relevant Leisure & Lifestyle/Therapeutic Recreation curriculum content.Eligibility for full membership of the Australian Recreational Therapy Association and adherence to professional standards.Previous experience in aged care or mental health environments, especially with residents living with dementia.Experience supervising support staff.Ability to complete activity analysis and understanding of the diverse use of occupation.Proven ability to plan, implement, and evaluate therapy programs for groups and individuals.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.Strong organizational and time management skills.Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word & Excel.About Us:Montefiore is an award-winning, Sydney-based aged care provider with a 135-year history as a non-profit organization founded on Jewish values.
