YMACs RC&CS is a skilled and coordinated team of archaeologists, anthropologists, environmental scientists, land and sea management specialists, ranger coordinators, managers and administrators who contribute to the ongoing empowerment of our clients Aboriginal communities and organisations throughout the Yamatji and Pilbara regions.YMAC is currently seeking a full time (75 hours a fortnight) Ranger Coordinator to be based in Denham (Shark Bay) on a fixed term contract until 30 June 2026. The Ranger Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing direction and leadership for a group of Aboriginal rangers in their on-country environmental and cultural management activities. This includes providing mentoring and coaching functions to the rangers and coordinating training activities with the training provider.About You:The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role, an understanding of cultural sensitivities, excellent communication skills (written and verbal) along with strong organisational and time management skills.Your position responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:Provide daily leadership, coordination and supervision of the Malgana Ranger Group in their land and sea management duties, consistent with the Malgana aspirations for Country.Coordinate the design and implementation of the Malgana ranger annual work plans for the protection and promotion of the natural and cultural heritageSupport and develop the ranger group in their formal and on-the-job training activitiesCoordinate and manage the ranger group budget and fee for service opportunities to gradually ensure full time employment of all rangers on the teamIntegrate traditional ecological knowledge with modern land and sea management practice, for the long-term conservation and promotion of natural and cultural values identified by Malgana Aboriginal CorporationLiaise with existing and potential clients (Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, Federal Department, pastoral stations, resource companies, etc.) in delivering services in land and sea management; andPromote responsible work practices to ensure a healthy and safe work environment while on countryWhat YMAC OffersYMAC believes in providing a safe and supportive working environment, and the best way to do that is to ensure our employees are well-looked after.
