We''re actively creating a more inclusive and supportive community through initiatives like Flexible Working, Wingara Indigenous Employment Strategy and LGBTQIA+ community support.About the roleWe are recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct experimental research on quantum computing hardware based on superconducting circuit QED, focussing on design, construction, measurement and analysis of experiments in digital quantum simulations and quantum control. The overall aims will include demonstrating and characterising cutting-edge digital quantum simulation algorithms in small-to-mid scale quantum devices, including characterising effects related to digitisation thresholds and the onset of quantum chaos, along with methods for optimal quantum control of complex qubit-cavity quantum systems.This role requires you to conduct research and produce high-quality publications, as well as supervising HDR students. Whilst participating in research activities, you will also be involved in writing and preparing grant applications and forging relationships with industry and institutions.About YouAs a Postdoctoral Research Associate, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. To be successful in this role you will take responsibility for initiating and delivering research in relation to the research project activities, using your strong research and analytical skills. You will have demonstrated experience in the area of experimental quantum science including some of the following topics: superconducting quantum circuits (circuit QED); test, analysis and characterisation of advanced quantum hardware; quantum device nanofabrication; advanced microwave control and measurement of quantum devices; cryogenic quantum systems; computer control of advanced quantum experiments.To be successful, you will also ideally have the following attributes:A PhD in field relevant to research scopeStrong research publication track record and ability to secure competitive research grantsWhat We OfferBase Salary Range: $92,761 to $112,977 pa (Level A)This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.The position is full-time and will be made on a 12-month fixed-term basis, with potential for extensionUTS staff also benefit from a wide range of Employee Benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.How To ApplyPlease click they apply button include the following in your application:A cover letter (max 3 pages) stating your motivation for applying for this position, and including a response addressing the selection criteria described in the position statement.
