Find out more about us and our purpose .We are currently seeking a Gambling Counsellor to join our team as part of the GambleAware program based in Wollongong, NSW. This program provides free, confidential, and non-judgmental counselling and support for individuals, families, and community members concerned about their own or someone elses gambling.As a Gambling Counsellor, you will deliver specialist therapeutic interventions via face-to-face, telephone, and online methods. You will support individuals, couples, families, and groups, offering services such as gambling-specific counselling, multi-venue self-exclusion assistance, and access to tailored information and strategies to address gambling harm.Applicants must hold a relevant degree in psychology or counselling and current membership of a relevant peak professional body or association.If youre passionate about supporting recovery and reducing gambling harm, wed love to hear from you.Your key responsibilities will be to:Provide therapeutic counselling to individuals, couples, families, and groups affected by gambling harm via face-to-face, telephone, and online modalities.Develop, implement, and regularly review individualised treatment plans based on clients'' needs and goals.Deliver services in line with the program framework, including intake, assessment, and evidence-based interventions.Facilitate group support sessions to address gambling harm in the community.Respond to referrals promptly and make appropriate internal and external referrals to support clients holistically.Maintain accurate, confidential client records and data in line with funding requirements.Requirements for SuccessDegree in Psychology or Counselling.Current membership of a relevant peak professional body or association.Proven experience in therapeutic counselling, including assessment, case planning, and the delivery of individual, couple, family, and group sessions across face-to-face, phone, and online settings.A strong understanding of gambling-related harm and the challenges experienced by affected individuals and families.Demonstrated ability to develop and implement tailored treatment plans supporting client recovery and wellbeing.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.Current NSW drivers licenseBefore starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.Rewarding work every day you know youre making a real differenceNot-for-profit salary packaging, reducing your tax (details via AccessPay )Opportunity to purchase additional annual leaveExtra leave including: Mission Australia Thank You Day & Work Anniversary Day offOur cultureOur innovative and inclusive culture will ensure you feel valued at Mission Australia as you help Australians in need and develop in your career.We prioritise the safety and wellbeing of everyone, both within our team and the individuals we serve.We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive working environment.
