There are approximately 300 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 350 staff by end of 2025. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.About the roleDroneShield is seeking a Senior Algorithms Engineer to join our team in Sydney, Australia. You will report to the SensorFusionAI (SFAI) Team Lead and play a key role in driving the next generation of our sensor fusion engine.This is a unique opportunity to apply your skills in tracking, optimisation, and real-time systems to help counter advanced drone threats at scale. You will collaborate across multiple engineering teams, and your work will directly power mission-critical detection and tracking capabilities for real-world deployments.Responsibilities, Duties and ExpectationsBe a key contributor to the development and evolution of DroneShields sensor fusion engine, with a focus on improving its tracking capability of large-scale drone swarms.Profile, benchmark, and optimise performance-critical sensor fusion code using multi-threading, GPU acceleration, language bindings, and other advanced techniques.Review, test and assess the latest research in multi-object tracking ensuring DroneShields sensor fusion engine continues to use cutting-edge, high-performance algorithms.Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that ensure high code quality, performance and stability.Work in close collaboration with relevant stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve issues and bug reports.Apply software engineering best practices including refactoring, testing, and documentation to maintain the highest standards of code quality and maintainability.Collaborate closely with other engineers and become a valued member of an autonomous, cross-functional team.Qualifications, Experience and SkillsBS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experienceMinimum 5 years of experience in a professional Software Engineering environmentProficiency in C++ and familiarity with other general-purpose languages (ideally Python/Golang with experience creating C++ bindings)Experience with CMake, unit testing frameworks, and performance tuningStrong background in developing data-intensive, real-time applications, and/or GPU-accelerated processing systems (TensorRT, CUDA, etc.)Familiarity with Linux and containerisation using DockerExperience in creating automated workflows for CI/CDStrong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and the application of mathematics and physics in software developmentNice to haveExperience with sensor fusion, multi-sensor data processing, or object tracking algorithmsBackground in AI/ML is a plusKnowledge of monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or similar observability frameworksWho you areYou are passionate about performance optimisation and writing efficient, high-impact code.You enjoy solving complex algorithmic challenges and applying mathematics to real-world systems.You have successfully deployed algorithmic models in production environments and seen their value in action.You are a self-driven learner, always seeking to improve and stay at the forefront of your field.You are experienced working with modern tools and infrastructure.You are comfortable running your software in Linux environments.You thrive in fast-paced, high-stakes settings and are motivated to help DroneShield scale globally.Note for recruitment agencies: We do not accept unsolicited candidates from external recruiters unless specifically instructed. #J-18808-Ljbffr
