We advise the Board, CEO, and Executive Leadership on emerging strategic opportunities, challenges, and trends, drawing on comprehensive energy industry analysis and organisational performance insights. Collaborating across all AEMO divisions, we provide a holistic, strategic perspective, enabling informed decision-making to best deliver on AEMOs evolving role. About The Role We seek a seasoned strategic thinker with deep energy sector expertise and a background in consulting, corporate strategy, operations, or planning, ready to drive corporate strategy at a national level. Reporting to the Group Manager Strategy, you will be a key leader within a high-impact team, focused on analysing Australias energy systems and trends, delivering insights to Executive and Board audiences, spearheading priority initiatives, and guiding AEMOs strategic planning process. Your contribution will be pivotal in shaping Australias energy future. What You Will Be Doing In this role, you will leverage your energy industry experience and knowledge to analyse Australian energy system and market trends, undertake scenario planning, and identify key implications to AEMO and the energy transition. Key accountabilities include: Lead complex strategic analysis, developing and applying frameworks and tools. Develop actionable strategic insights and implications for AEMO. Direct the development and refinement of short to long-term strategic plans. Oversee and track the delivery of strategic initiatives across the organisation. Proactively monitor and evaluate local and international trends in the energy sector. Coach, mentor, and develop junior team members. What You Will Bring To The Role Significant experience in a strategy-focused role, ideally gained within a leading consulting firm, corporate strategy function, or a relevant industry context. Proven ability as a self-starter to manage multiple complex priorities and deliver outcomes in a dynamic environment. Exceptional structured thinking and complex problem-solving skills, with an ability to strategically frame issues, and develop and rigorously test hypotheses. Superior analytical and modelling skills, with the ability to distil complexity into actionable insights. Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working directly with senior management. Comfort in working in ambiguity with the ability to balance the full picture perspective with fine details and precision. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant business discipline (Engineering, Science, Economics, Commerce).
