The role involves designing, developing, and integrating innovative engineering solutions to improve naval platform systems and related technologies, focusing on infrastructure for smart sustainment of naval platforms.Your ResponsibilitiesControl Systems Engineering Expertise: Lead the digital twin project for propulsion and power plant systems, supporting installation, configuration, testing, and validation of control systems and software. Present and demonstrate new technologies to stakeholders.R&D Projects Support: Collaborate across teams on research initiatives within Navantia Australia and external partners.Liaise with External Partners: Coordinate with Navantia Spain on technology transfer, especially in modelling, simulation, control algorithms, and AI.Stakeholder Engagement: Gather design inputs, manage stakeholder requirements, and communicate project progress.Supervision and Mentorship: Guide R&D graduates and interns, fostering skill development.Technological Awareness: Stay informed on advancements in modelling, simulation, control algorithms, and AI, and integrate these into projects.Candidate RequirementsExpertise in digital twins, control systems, and naval engineering.Experience with modelling tools like MATLAB/Simulink, scripting in Python, and real-time simulation.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Research experience in advanced technologies such as Digital Twin, AI, and control algorithms.Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners.Excellent communication skills for technical presentations.Experience in Defence Maritime domain is preferred.Previous R&D project involvement is desirable.Knowledge of ICT operations and cybersecurity in control systems.Australian Citizenship is required.PhD or ongoing PhD in relevant fields is preferred.Working at Navantia AustraliaNavantia Australia contributes to the Naval Shipbuilding Plan, focusing on growing Australia''s shipbuilding and sustainment capabilities.
