In this role, you''ll be instrumental in protecting our brand by managing intellectual property enforcement, both online and offline, and providing legal support across various business units. This includes expertise in contract review, consumer law, and privacy compliance.As a global business headquartered in Sydney, you''ll need a strong ability to research and adapt, along with excellent communication skills. This is a 14-month maternity leave contract with potential for ongoing opportunities.Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:Intellectual Property Portfolio overseeing trade mark registrations, design registrations and copyright registrations globally (with the support of external providers and team members), advising on design development and IP licensing.Brand Enforcement monitoring domestic and international markets for breaches of Zimmermanns intellectual property rights; closely overseeing Zimmermanns external supplier for online enforcement; letters of demand, preparing briefs of evidence and liaising with partners and external counsel as required.Commercial, Contracts and Compliance supporting different business teams with contract review, consumer law and marketing compliance (in particular digital marketing), wholesale terms, preparation of templates, sustainability compliance, privacy and general compliance in a global context.Required skills and expertise:Mid-level to senior lawyer, full-time position but also open to a part-time arrangement.Understanding of intellectual property, in particular copyright, designs and trade marks.Strong commercial law and contract drafting experience, ideally gained in a reputable law firm.Dispute resolution skills.Understanding of privacy principles.Ability to research and upskill in different areas and jurisdictions.Work collaboratively within the legal team and cross-business functions.High degree of professional ethics and integrity.Only short-listed applicants will be contacted.Zimmermann is an equal opportunity employer and considers all applicants for employment on the basis of their individual capabilities and qualifications ensuring a strong corporate commitment to diversity and inclusion.
