The position facilitates the delivery of key commitments under the Multicultural Policies and Services Plan, the departments system-wide Anti-Racism Strategy and the current election commitment on religious inclusion.The role is responsible for providing high quality advice and influence to maximise the inclusion and equitable education outcomes for students from diverse cultural, linguistic and religious backgrounds. Through collaboration with government agencies and community organisations, the Director, Multicultural Education drives approaches to enhance community harmony and the provision of critical support for students from language backgrounds other than English (LBOTE) and students learning English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D), including newly arrived and refugee background students.For more details about this role, please click here to view the Role Description.About YouWere seeking a strategic leader with a strong commitment to inclusion and social cohesion. You should have experience leading community-wide initiatives focused on promoting multicultural understanding and addressing complex societal issues. You should also have a proven ability to manage and influence large-scale programs that support diverse communities, including refugees and students from diverse cultural, linguistic and religious backgrounds.Your expertise in stakeholder engagement and strategic influence will be key as you work across government and non-government organisations, driving collaboration and fostering positive outcomes.Youll excel in navigating complex environments, managing diverse viewpoints, and driving impactful outcomes in areas including anti-racism, religious inclusion, and social inclusion and harmony. A background in handling multi-faceted challengeswhether related to education, community, or broader social issueswill be essential in this role.To Be Successful In This Role, You Will HaveDemonstrated extensive experience at a senior level in the management of a large complex organisation.Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Departments Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Departments Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Departments Multicultural and Anti-Racism Strategy and policies.Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as education, multicultural education, diversity and equity, social sciences or communications, Migration and Intercultural Studies and/or equivalent knowledge and experience.Hold a valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children Check).Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.As a condition of employment, successful candidates who have not previously worked for the department will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance number. This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee.
