This operation is based in the Bass Strait. As one of the most senior officers onboard, the Chief Officer is responsible for allocating the day to day tasks and managing a team, ensuring a safe and proper operation of the vessel and its equipment.In addition, the Chief Officer will be responsible for:Supporting the preparation of loading and discharge plans;Undertaking Chief Officer watchkeeping duties as required in port and at sea;All matters pertaining to cargo, cargo spaces, cargo systems and cargo handling;Supervision and training of crew engaged in cargo duties;Enforcing of all safety precautions and regulations;Ensuring all policies and procedures laid down are properly carried out;Having comprehensive knowledge of all maintenance and repair needs of the deck and throughout the accommodation;Providing guidance and support to the Deck Officers including Deck Cadets;Capable of ShipSure entry and management of Deck department requirements.About youEducational requirement: As per AMSA Marine Order 71 (mandatory)Technical requirements: at least 12 months documented qualifying seagoing service in charge of navigation watchMSIC Card (required or ability to obtain)Working Safely at Heights (required or ability to obtain)Enter and Work in a Confined Workspace certification (required or ability to obtain)Current AMSA Medical (required or ability to obtain)Living in AustraliaIf you are interested in this role, we would love to hear from you!
