Every day, our teams solve complex problems, the solutions help thousands of our fellow team members succeed and makes millions of customers lives easier.About the roleA permanent opportunity of a Senior Software Engineer (frontend) is now available at QuiteLike.Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role will primarily be responsible for building and nurturing not only our consumer facing products but also our engineering culture.Whilst we are looking for a candidate who is strong in frontend technologies, if you are someone who has worked fullstack, we want to hear from you.Key responsibilities will includePlanning and DesignOwnership of the web tech stackcultivating a culture of knowledge sharing, collaboration and support.Engineering tooling selection and alignmentDefinition of architecture and coding standardsReview and endorsements of implementation plansReview of Key Decision DocumentsRefinement and prioritisation of tech debt backlog. Driving initiatives to maintain the overall platform health.Software DeliverySupport an engineering team to develop delivery goals within agreed timelinesFacilitate agile scrum practices within the team, offer support to delivery managers in defining timelines and project requirementsEngineering qualityEnsure the team is developing software quality in-line with the broader teams expectationsFacilitate and govern peer reviews and testing standardsTeam developmentEmpower and develop the engineering teams skillsFacilitate training, ensure all engineers are meeting needs and gaining help to close gapsGrow a culture that elicits a high-performing team and a fun working environmentAbout you & your skillsSeasoned software engineer with at least 10 years experienceExtensive experience with front-end web development and related tools/languages/frameworks.React, Javascript, CSS, Typescript, REST GraphQL, APIs, and other related web technologiesExposure/experience to NextJS, StorybookExperience in content management systemsExperience in web performance optimisationsStrong understanding of architectural principles & system design.Experience in (or willingness to learn) build pipelinesWillingness to learn/get exposure to other systems and technologiesAbility to drive software engineering practicesExcellent analytical and problem resolution skillsProven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authorityExperience with release and automation pipelines desirableCommercial Skills and Formal QualificationsTertiary qualifications in a technology engineering discipline such as computer science preferred.Practiced understanding of leadership principalsAbility to engage with other technical leaders to drive improvements outside of your direct influence.Aptitude for people management, coaching & training a mustStakeholder management skillsGreat people communicator, excellent communication skillsAbility to coordinate across multiple technology and business teamsWhats in it for you?Wholly owned subsidiary of the Coles Group so, proudly Australian owned and operatedHybrid and flexible work cultureIndependently operating so spearhead and design our own TechOpportunity to come and be responsible for the set up of tech guardrails and best practicesAccess to our product range including try out meals, in-house kitchen tasting, team events, monthly celebrations where both Melbourne and Sydney teams come togetherThis job is based at our Sydney head office, Surry Hills and is five minutes away from Central Station.Take your next step into something bigger, apply now!With us, its about joining a team where your wellbeing and professional development is invested in and celebrating your contributions is the norm.
