Job Description

FORWAARD Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a Head of Operations (HOO) who will play a pivotal role in supporting the Chief Executive Officer in strategic and operational leadership. FORWAARD supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in reconnecting with their families and community following drug and/or alcohol-related difficulties through our holistic, culturally safe, and person- and community-centered programs and supports. This is a full-time (38 hours per week) position based in our Stuart Park office. The Head of Operations role is essential to driving organisational success through the management of key operational functions, staff management, fostering stakeholder relationships, and ensuring the continued delivery of high-quality, culturally responsive, and evidence-based services. Duties and responsibilities: Operate effectively alongside the CEO in driving strategic leadership, including identifying opportunities for growth, sustainability, and innovation, and providing oversight of AOD programs and service delivery. Lead operational excellence in ensuring legislative and regulatory compliance, support financial planning and budget management, and develop and implement systems to monitor and improve operational performance. Champion culturally appropriate, inclusive, and competent practices throughout all organisational policies, programs, and services. Act as a key liaison between staff, external stakeholders, and community partners, and represent FORWAARD at meetings, conferences, and events to foster strong relationships and advocate for organisational priorities. Mentor, manage, and support teams to build leadership capacity, enhance staff performance, and promote an organisational culture aligned with FORWAARD''s values, mission, and goals. Ensure cultural competence and a strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, history, and contemporary challenges. Demonstrate leadership experience and success in strategic development and organisational growth initiatives. Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, along with strong organisational capabilities. Oversee budgets, financial reports, and operational financial practices. Supervise and develop teams effectively. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including community members, government agencies, and partner organisations. Apply strong problem-solving skills to address complex issues and implement effective solutions. Maintain knowledge of compliance and governance requirements relevant to the organisation. Manage and oversee contracts to ensure timely delivery within budget. Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the organisation.
