It is a hybrid position requiring at least three days a week in the office. Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer for Mercer Super, the Head of Compliance is a key leadership role responsible for navigating complex regulatory landscapes and ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations. Key responsibilities include overseeing breach assessments, maintaining the obligations library, and acting as the Conflicts Officer for Mercer Super. This leadership position is within the Line 2 Mercer Super risk team. Relevant experience in the superannuation sector is essential. While prior leadership experience is preferred, we welcome applications from exceptional individuals seeking their first leadership role. The ideal candidate will have strong risk and compliance expertise, resilience, change management skills, and the ability to engage in constructive, member-focused conversations. Key Responsibilities: Lead, mentor, and develop the Compliance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. Set high standards for conduct and work, exemplifying best practices in compliance management. Provide expert compliance advice and support to Line 1 business units, managing compliance and regulatory risks effectively. Oversee the obligations register within the GRC system, ensuring it is comprehensive and fit for purpose. Lead incident reviews and breach assessments, collaborating with MMC colleagues to escalate significant issues. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, preparing and presenting compliance updates to senior management and committees. Qualifications and Experience: Tertiary qualifications in a business-related discipline. Extensive experience in compliance or legal roles within financial services, preferably in superannuation. 2-3 years in a similar compliance role with a proven track record of managing compliance initiatives. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Desirable Attributes: Leadership experience in managing compliance teams. Deep knowledge of compliance and risk frameworks, including obligations registers. Strong critical thinking and stakeholder engagement skills.
