So this is a unique career opportunity to be part of our epic growth story.The OpportunityWe are searching for a Director of Engineering to lead the technical evolution of our high-traffic e-commerce platform, spanning web and mobile experiences. This role demands a unique combination of strategic leadership and a genuine love for engineering. You''ll be responsible for defining and executing the technical roadmap, nurturing a talented team, and, when needed, rolling up your sleeves to contribute directly through POC development or hands-on problem-solving. Your passion for technology will be the driving force behind our platform''s scalability, performance, and continuous innovation.What Youll Be DoingStrategic & Technical Leadership:- Develop and execute the engineering roadmap, aligning with business objectives and product strategies for our e-commerce platform (web and mobile)- Own and deeply understand the platform''s architecture and technology stack, ensuring its scalability, performance, and security- Drive technical excellence through code reviews, architecture decisions, and adherence to best practices- Proactively manage technical debt and ensure scalable, maintainable code- Lead the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, including AI-assisted e-commerce solutions- Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies, applying them to enhance the platform- Lead a hybrid team of 20 engineers (frontend, backend, QA) across Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance- Provide mentorship and guidance to engineering team members, fostering their professional growth and development- Collaborate closely with Product Management, UX/UI, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions- Ensure seamless integration of new features and enhancements- Foster strong communication and collaboration between engineering and cross-functional teams- Implement and maintain Agile methodologiesPlatform Operations & Excellence:- Ensure the platform''s performance, scalability, and security- Implement rigorous testing processes and observability metrics to maintain high standards of quality- Optimise the platform for high traffic and performance- Ensure the security and integrity of customer data- Champion digital best practices across website, mobile app, email, content management, and asset managementDogs, cats, budgies and everything in between - pets deserve the world.
