We believe in shaping positive outcomes for our members, our people and the community.About this RoleWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented junior policy assistant to join the Regulatory and Consumer Policy team. The role will provide research and policy support on various matters affecting the insurance sector, including a range of matters within the areas of regulatory, consumer, and social policy. Including, but not limited to:market conduct regulation;prudential regulation;various insurance lines;consumer policy, including support for consumers experiencing vulnerability;the operations of the General Insurance Code of Practice; andgovernment reform initiatives directed at the insurance sector or the business sector more broadly.Key tasks will include:undertaking defined research tasks as requested;supporting preparation for and delivery of working group and committee meetings including supporting development of papers, taking and distributing minutes, and managing the working group or committee governance;with support, contribute to the design and development of strategic policy initiatives affecting the ICAs members through interpreting and advising on relevant indicators, trends, and drivers;assisting senior team members with the development of draft submissions, policy papers and briefing notes, including long and short form documents to a high level and support engagement with key stakeholders to ensure a quality product;supporting senior team members in working with member representatives to keep them informed of industry issues, concerns, strategies and action plans;establishing and maintaining good working relationships with regulators and government policy makers, members of the business community, and other stakeholder groups; andmaintaining an ongoing awareness of the broader insurance landscape including international developments in key areas, preparing research briefs for senior executives on relevant changes.About youTo be successful in this role you will have:a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a suitable discipline including policy, legal, financial, economics, management or politics;knowledge and experience in the research, analysis, and formulation of public policy;experience and skills relevant to navigating and influencing stakeholders;ability to contribute to the formulation of strategic policies and initiatives;excellent written and oral communication skills with a particular focus on impactful, quality writing; andan interest in and broad knowledge and understanding of the key issues facing the general insurance industry.Your application must address the following essential criteria:your ability to work collaboratively, achieve results through positive engagement with stakeholders and create outside the square solutions;your experience in research and policy support; andthe ability to positively impact your team, the organisation and the wider ICA membership.What we offerThis exciting opportunity will see you at the forefront in supporting the general insurance industry and its regulatory and consumer policy agenda.We will provide you with a competitive salary, flexible working environment and an organisation with strong foundations in its values and strategic outcomes.Interested?Dont delay click apply and submit your CV and cover letter specifically addressing the essential criteria listed.Only applicants with Australian working rights will be considered.
