They support students in developing their knowledge, understanding and skills in mathematics and working mathematically. Mathematics Teachers encourage mathematical thinking through questioning, communicating, reasoning, and reflecting and help students generalise, find connections, and think critically and creatively, using appropriate technology to support mathematical activity. Mathematics Teachers work as part of a team to nurture and develop learners who are relational, reflective, resilient, and resourceful. They are committed to continuous improvement and the pursuit of excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate ongoing practice that meets the Australian Professional Standards of Teachers.Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the NSW syllabus documents for Mathematics, teaching timetabled classes as required.Ability to teach Mathematics across Years 7 to 12 (experience teaching Mathematics Extension 1 and Mathematics Extension 2 is desirable but not essential).Develop, implement, and evaluate teaching and learning programs that incorporate differentiated strategies to meet the specific learning needs of students across a range of abilities, including the development of literacy and numeracy skills.Adhere to all curriculum expectations and deadlines as set out by NESA and the College.Align teaching practices and curriculum with the Christian faith.Incorporate the language and habits associated with the College Learning Culture within regular classroom practice, establishing high expectations and empowering students to develop as reflective, relational, resilient, and resourceful learners.Gather NCCD-related evidence as part of ongoing processes and structures.Create and maintain a positive and engaging learning space for the students.Establish and maintain effective classroom management and discipline practices to ensure students are safe and supported as they learn.Incorporate strategies to promote the safe, responsible and ethical use of ICT.Ensure meaningful and effective assessment practices to inform programming, teaching and reporting.Provide regular and timely feedback to students and their families regarding progress, achievements, behaviour, and application using accurate and reliable records.Critically engage in professional learning to update knowledge and practice.Support and promote the Colleges pastoral care and wellbeing programs, diverse co-curricular programs and extra-curricular events such as but not limited to involvement in carnivals, camps, excursions, co-curricular activities, and events.Lead a Mentor Group with students from Year 7 to Year 12.Attend meetings, parent-teacher interviews, events, and playground duties as required.Implement relevant programs, policy, and legislative requirements, including the Colleges Code of Conduct, to ensure student wellbeing and safety.Take part in compliance training as required.Undertake any other duties as directed by the Deputy Principal (Secondary) or Principal.Skills and AttributesHave a personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and regularly attend a Christian church.Accept Penrith Anglican Colleges Statement of Faith and live a lifestyle consistent with this.Ability to build positive relationships that nurture and empower students with a diverse range of needs to achieve their full potential.Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and solve problems creatively.Extensive skills in the use of ICT, particularly Microsoft programs, CANVAS and Edumate (or a willingness to be trained in these platforms).Highly developed organisational and planning skills.Attitude of continuous improvement, completing all tasks with diligence.Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for education.Demonstrated ability to be reliable and responsive to needs within a dynamic school environment.Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with a range of people, including staff, students, parents, and community members.Ability to work autonomously or collaboratively as a productive and creative member of a team.Ability to maintain confidentiality and always represent the best interests of the College.See also the Australian Professional Standards for TeachersQualifications/AccreditationRelevant qualifications (from an approved and recognised tertiary institution) in Education and Mathematics such as:A Bachelor of Education (Secondary)A Bachelor of Mathematics with a Master of Teaching (Secondary) or a Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) Be accredited with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)A valid WWCC numberFirst Aid Certificate (or a willingness to get one)Child SafetyPenrith Anglican College is committed to child safety and complies with the requirements of the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
