Duties and Responsibilities Plan all aspects of milk production, including management and coordination of milking routines. Coordinate and implement reproductive programs, including artificial insemination and herd fertility management, detection of estrous, and pregnancy. Assist in breeding experiments to develop improved livestock strains. Implement calving procedures, including conducting internal assessments to minimize stillbirths or injuries. Manage pastures and crops for livestock production and develop feeding plans. Analyze produce to maintain quality standards. Supervise animal health programs, handle sick or injured animals, and maintain an environment compliant with Australian Animal Welfare Standards Cattle. Supervise work routines and performance of less experienced staff, such as assistant farmhands. Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures, ensuring compliance and proper documentation. Operate milking equipment safely, record instrument data, and match cow IDs to calves for quality milk production. Operate dairy recycling systems. Feed calves, including tubing colostrum. Assist with irrigation works. Inspect livestock to evaluate feed effectiveness. Handle and store chemicals safely; prepare and apply chemicals. Operate farm vehicles, plant, and equipment. Report equipment issues; perform maintenance on sheds, fences, and machinery where qualified. Transport stock, feed, and equipment if licensed. Maintain accurate records for stock and inventory control. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations. Contribute to and implement Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements. Operate computer equipment and software as required. Respond to occupational health, safety, and animal welfare emergencies. Participate in training sessions and workshops as needed.
