AEMOs stakeholder environment is complex, crossing government, industry, consumers and community, and the expectations and needs of stakeholders are ever-changing. Identified as a Corporate Priority in AEMO''s Corporate Plan, high-quality, proactive and consistent stakeholder engagement will help build and evolve AEMOs social licence and deliver better outcomes for all Australians.Part of AEMOs Policy & Corporate Affairs Division, AEMOs Stakeholder Engagement Team is responsible for helping the organisation to build trusted relationships with industry, consumers and other groups to ensure social licence for the work AEMO does, its evolving roles and responsibilities, and deliver positive energy transition outcomes for consumers.About The RoleReporting to the Manager, Consumer and Community, the Senior Stakeholder Advisor supports AEMOs consumer, community, and corporate-level engagement initiatives. The role involves developing and delivering externally-facing stakeholder engagement and communications plans, facilitating consultations around priority business or industry topics, and building strong stakeholder relationships to enhance shared understanding and trust. It also includes identifying emerging energy stakeholder and social licence trends, insights and risks, providing strategic advice to other business areas, and helping to build good practice stakeholder communication, engagement skills and knowledge across the organisation to enhance outcomes for consumers and build reputation.This is an 18 month contract position covering an internal secondment.What You Will Be DoingStakeholder Engagement Delivery (70%)Lead the development and delivery of engagement and communications plans, and related communications materials, for key consumer, community, and corporate initiativesCommunicate clearly with stakeholders and manage consultations effectivelyDevelop plans for emerging issues and coordinate deliverySupport engagement effectiveness measurement and reportingManage stakeholder queries and mailbox responsesProvide expert advice across AEMO divisionsEnsure compliance with regulatory engagement requirementsMentor colleagues on engagement project deliveryEngagement Design, Governance & Enablement (15%)Act as a trusted advisor, offering quality advice and challenging normsAlign work with AEMOs engagement strategy and principlesFacilitate collaboration and share insights across teams and communitiesSupport engagement admin tasks, including research, meetings, reporting, and brief preparationStrategy & Insights (15%)Identify and escalate strategic engagement issuesShare stakeholder trends and insights with relevant teamsMaintain accurate stakeholder records in the CRM systemWhat You Will Bring To The RoleEducation/CertificatesRelevant tertiary qualifications (Bachelor) in social sciences, communications, public relations, or related field.IAP2 Certificate of Engagement - desirableExperience and KnowledgeSolid experience in stakeholder engagement and/or corporate communications, ideally in complex or regulated industriesProven ability to translate complex policy, technical or reform issues into simple and clear messaging that meets audience needsStrong understanding of the energy sector, including regulatory, legal and political contextsExperience leading stakeholder engagement plans, including risk, messaging and feedback processesExcellent communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills, with resilience and diplomacyYour ability to understand the energy sectors challenges and opportunities including knowledge of the political, legal and regulatory framework in which the energy industry operates would be extremely beneficial, as well as your ability to assimilate a sufficient understanding of electricity and gas market operations to lead stakeholder consultation processes on complex technical, commercial or regulatory issues.In Return Some Of Our Benefits To YouFlexible working: work from home, part time, job share, hybrid options, and additional leave optionsProfessional development via projects, industry networks, job rotation, study assistance and more.Give back with up to 4 days of volunteering leave per year.Embrace a healthier you with our wellness program, discounted health insurance, gym perks and our comprehensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP).About Our ProcessAEMO values diversity and inclusivity in the workplace, welcoming applications from all backgrounds without regard to age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, parental status, race, or religion.
