The Opportunity (Key Responsibilities/Duties) As the Senior Management Accountant, Capital, you will: Prepare and analyse monthly capital project reports, reconciliations, briefing notes, and presentations on complex asset and capital management issues, providing insights and recommendations to management. Contribute to the development and review of capital management policies and procedures to help the agency meet its obligations under the Government''s financial management framework, including legislation, guidelines, and standards. Provide accurate, professional, and timely advice to Business Groups on asset policies for Capital Work-in-Progress and related acquisitions, based on a solid understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, Queensland Treasury Financial Reporting Requirements, Non-Current Asset Policies, and other relevant policies. Ensure that the agency''s annual capital budget and revisions are accurately reflected in the Queensland Treasury Budget Papers, Tridata, and internal records. Maintain and develop collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management, Queensland Treasury, and external service providers. Work with the finance team to develop and maintain internal controls over capital processing and asset accounting. Communicate capital and asset-related financial information effectively to internal and external stakeholders, including senior management and auditors. Stay updated on accounting regulations and industry best practices related to capital asset accounting. Support the Manager of Capital, Maintenance, and Asset Accounting as directed. What We Are Looking For (Qualifications, Registrations, Experience) Accounting qualifications are not mandatory, but a relevant degree and membership of CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA), or MIPA status with the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) are highly desirable due to the technical nature of the role. For international qualifications, applicants must have their qualifications assessed for comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework.
