The role also supports planning, environment and heritage matters for Corrective Services NSW and their asset portfolio.Managing the statutory Environment & Heritage Planning work program within the Strategic Infrastructure, Risk & Resilience team, you will lead the team in the development and implementation of projects. This will include assessing projects against legislative requirements, formulating project plans, policies and solutions, contributing to issue resolution and escalation, research, analysis activities, and planning and monitoring activities.You will be working with a diverse and inclusive team in a flexible and agile working culture. There will be plenty of opportunities to take your skills to the next level.What Youll DoAs part of the Strategic Infrastructure, Risk & Resilience team within the Major Program Delivery branch, you will be managing and coordinating heritage and planning applications and environmental matters across the Departmentto ensure compliance with relevant legislation and government policy.You will also be developing initiatives for implementation based on current projects and planning, heritage and environmental policy.You Will Also Be Responsible ForProviding guidance on statutory requirements to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and government policy, and share this information with staff and clients as required.Contributing to the development of environmental and heritage policies, processes and procedures for the division and Department to drive compliance with planning, environmental and heritage legislat, and be involved in updating the Department on sustainability and environmental initiatives.Managing the engagement of external sources of advice regarding planning, heritage and environmental issues including scoping, procurement, engagement and performance management of contractors to ensure work delivered meets agreed time, cost and quality requirements.Assisting with maintaining the Departments Conservation and Heritage registers in accordance with Section 170 of the Heritage Act 1977 and maintaining the State Heritage Inventory database for Department of Justice heritage assets to ensure registers are current and accurate.Monitoring capital works projects to ensure compliance with relevant heritage legislation, identify areas of non-compliance and recommend strategies to ensure compliance with requirements.Managing the review of and provision of advice regarding the statutory requirements for Project Delivery Plan works to DCJ assets in relation to environmental matters including Aboriginal heritage, threatened species, native vegetation and contamination/hazardous materials on sites.Essential requirementsTertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in heritage, environment or planning.What Were Looking ForThe successful candidate will demonstrate the following:Current knowledge of legislative and policy changes in the planning, heritage and environmental fields and the ability to promptly incorporate changes in to work practices and education initiatives.Be able to develop initiatives for implementation based on current projects and planning, heritage and environment policy.Be able to engage staff and deliver tailored education and awareness initiatives that ensure compliance with requirements.Download the role description.We focus on hiring people who share our commitment and goals of inclusion, collaboration, adaptability, courage and integrity.
