In this role you will help us to publish the most exciting and distinctive talent, championing books and authors with a clear vision , creativity, and both commercially and profitably.The RoleThe Editor will be involved in all stages of the publishing process, project managing books, copy-editing, proofreading and management of page proofs, and providing final files to production for a wide range of adult titles.This role will include reading and reporting on manuscripts, proposals and books submitted for publication.You will maintain title data in our bibliographic system, updating throughout the publishing process. You will also mana ge copywrite clearances for text and visual materials.This role also provides editorial and general administrative support to a dynamic local publishing department .The Candidate Profile:An E ditor must be a passionate reader across a wide variety of genres. You will have an eye for detail, a thorough knowledge of spelling and grammar, outstanding time management skills and able to work both independently and collaboratively in an enthusiastic environment .The ideal candidate will have the ability to liaise directly with authors to resolve proofreading queries and style/consistency matters. They will also be able to facilitate communication between the author and other departments, and to proofread material for sales, marketing and publicitydepartments as required .Previous experience within the book and entertainment industries would be an advantage, as would experience of working within an editorial environment ; however, we are keen to hear from the widest range of candidates and were open to different types of experience.This is a full-time permanent role, with a flexible working arrangement including working from home and in the S&S office in Sydney.This is a rare opportunity to join a dynamic and global organisation and supercharge your career in publishing.
