This dual role involves managing ASIC''s relationship with external law firms (Panel Firms) on our newly established Enforcement Litigation Panel and acting as Litigation Counsel on regulatory civil litigation matters. You will establish trusted, proactive, and value-driven relationships with the Panel Firms, working closely with the Legal Operations team to establish frameworks, metrics, and KPIs to assess and manage performance. You will also work on high-profile, challenging, and rewarding regulatory litigation. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of ASIC''s litigation efforts.All ASIC locations considered$147,074 - $195,951 (depending on experience), plus 15.4% superannuationPermanent roleApplications close at 11:59pm AEDT, 5 June 2025The teamThe Legal Services Group, led by the General Counsel and Executive Director, provides legal services across ASIC and enhances ASIC''s reputation as a modern and effective regulator. The team includes Enforcement Legal Services, Regulatory Legal Services, Corporate Legal Services, the Hearing Delegates Panel, and the newly formed Legal Operations Team. Enforcement Legal Services manages ASIC''s hybrid civil litigation practice, either through external law firms supervised by Litigation Counsels or via ASIC''s in-house practice.Your roleAs the Enforcement Litigation Panel Manager, you will manage Panel Firms by communicating ASIC''s litigation strategy, goals, and timelines. You will maintain knowledge of each firm''s experience and skills to make informed recommendations, monitor litigation spend, and improve value delivery, ensuring strong relationships by addressing service issues.As Litigation Counsel, you will provide strategic leadership and advice on regulatory civil matters involving external legal firms, guide ASIC investigation teams, and contribute to professional development and knowledge sharing within ASIC. You will also explore service innovations with Panel Firms and promote value-added services, engaging with peers in other agencies and sharing best practices.About YouTo be eligible, you must hold a current unrestricted Practising Certificate and be admitted to practice in the High Court, Federal Court, and State Supreme Courts. You should have extensive experience in managing law firms and conducting civil litigation (minimum of 10 years post-admission), including developing litigation strategies and drafting pleadings. Demonstrated high-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, along with a commitment to client service, independence, and legal risk management.For more details, see the Position Description.
