OzFish Unlimited partners with fishers and the broader community to invest resources into the protection and restoration of our waterways, counteracting decades of degradation.About the RoleOzFish is seeking a Senior Project Officer Gladstone to assist the Program Manager South East and Central Queensland, and greater OzFish team in delivering fish habitat projects in Gladstone and the wider Central Queensland region.The role is a working from home position, which will include regular travel around Gladstone, and occasional travel throughout South East and Central Queensland. The roles key focus is delivering habitat restoration projects, engaging fishers and developing new collaborations with existing and future project partners.In this role, you will be responsible for:Identifying and developing project opportunities across marine, freshwater and estuarine environments, including developing stakeholder concerns into projects that provide community-driven solutions.Engaging recreational fishers in OzFish activities including promotion through community presentations, volunteer field days and science communication.Supporting and assisting in the development of OzFish volunteer capacity in the region, including the establishment of an OzFish Gladstone chapter of volunteers.Undertaking project delivery from initial conception and design to obtaining funding and identifying and working with stakeholders through to project completion.Utilising your scientific expertise in local project delivery in a diverse range of fish habitat projects, including fieldwork and events within marine, estuarine and freshwater environments.All aspect of project management including; main point of contact, community engagement, stakeholder management, approvals and permits, mapping, species lists, budgeting and reporting.Project travel as necessary.Required Skills and Qualifications:Bachelor Degree in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science or similar discipline.Experience managing multiple projects and juggling deadlines, varied workloads and travel.Experience in effectively engaging community and working volunteers.Experience in developing project proposals, budgets and timelines.Demonstrated high standards in safety and work planning, including hazards specifically relevant to the region (e.g. wet weather)Competent working remotely and independently, including providing examples of this.Desirable skills:Experience delivering projects in collaboration with Traditional Owner groups.Formal communication and engagement qualifications.Small event management experience.Strong connections to the local fishing community, an established local network.Understanding of the Queensland planning, permits and approvals landscape, with a particular focus on Tidal Works, Fisheries and Marine Park legislation.nrmjobs.com.au/job/20025866 #J-18808-Ljbffr
