This milestone contract marks Navantia Australia''s first direct contract with the Commonwealth of Australia, highlighting its commitment to innovation and excellence.We have opportunities for Intermediate, Senior, and Lead Naval Architects to join our team at Garden Island, Sydney. Operating under the Design Support Contractor (DSC) contract, you will deliver engineering services for naval ships, including systems responsibility such as:Naval Architecture design activities: General Arrangement, Concept design, Weight Control, Stability, Seakeeping, Maneuvering, and Ship Performance.Outfit design activities: compartment arrangements, structural closures, Fire Protection, deck arrangements and equipment, ladders/platforms, cargo handling systems, minor foundations, etc.Your responsibilities will include:Providing a high level of engineering technical competence based on relevant experience and knowledge.Applying broad technical knowledge of Naval Architecture and Outfitting, including weight control, stability, seakeeping, maneuvering, ship performance, equipment stowage, furniture, structural closures, and insulation.Undertaking technical investigations, root cause analysis, and solutions.Delivering technical reports and documentation according to Navantia and customer standards.Collaborating within the broader engineering team and engaging with different disciplines.Planning and coordinating projects from concept to delivery, including stakeholder engagement.Supervising and mentoring team members.Participating in design coordination and review meetings with clients.Ideal candidate qualifications:Bachelors degree in Engineering - Naval Architecture.Proven skills and experience in Naval Architecture.Experience in a Defence environment.Knowledge of statutory regulations, classification, and flag state rules.Experience with ship structural design and systems integration.Ability to produce clear, high-quality reports.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work autonomously, prioritize, and deliver results under pressure.What it''s like to work with Navantia AustraliaWe are committed to growing Australia''s shipbuilding capabilities and supporting your career development.
