The role involves designing and programming embedded systems, developing software interfaces, and providing support for a wide range of equipment and systems used in labs and workshops.This is a broad and hands-on position suited to someone with strong software expertise who enjoys problem-solving and working across diverse technologies. From developing custom tools to troubleshooting and repairing equipment, you''ll play a key role in keeping learning and research environments running smoothly.In addition to the above, the Computer Systems Engineer will also:Developing and maintaining software solutions, optimizing software and firmware for a diverse range of products, including microcontrollers, PLCs, and both Windows and Linux-based PC systems.Provide advice, recommendations and feedback to staff & students on engineering software, operation of equipment, safety and practical engineering design considerations within teaching, research and other College supported activities.Develop innovative embedded solutions, designing, developing, and commissioning specialised electronic systems, including complex software and firmware for science and engineering applications, working collaboratively with stakeholders and team members.Safety and compliance, preparing Workplace Health & Safety documentation to maintain a secure and effective working environment.About YouWe are seeking a skilled and motivated Computer Systems Engineer to join our team. As the successful candidate, you will hold a qualification in Electronic or Computer Systems Engineering (recognised by Engineers Australia).You will have excellent problem-solving and communication skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively with academic staff, researchers, and students.
